Goodreads Synopsis:

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie...and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

I am just going to start off by saying that Throne of Glass set the standard really high for this series and Crown of Midnight did not disappoint! This book was a fantastic sequel that was just as entertaining (if not more) as Throne of Glass.

In this book there is so much more focus on what goes on inside the castle and the bigger picture of why Celaena is there. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book because Sarah J Mass has created one of the most mysterious and exciting mysteries I have ever read! ( I apologise if that sentence made no sense at all ). Throughout all of the quests that Celaena went on in this book I tried to guess what would happen and I couldn't but when it was explained I knew exactly what was going on.

Also in this book there is more focus on the relationships and the love triangle between Celaena, Dorian and Choal becomes a HUGE part of the book and because of this there is a lot of heartbreak and sad times.

I almost cried many times at a particular point in this book that has something to do with one of the love interests and Celaena. This book was so crazy with plot twists and sadness but at the same time it was so full of action and so epic at the same time!

Talking about plot twists...if you haven't read this book yet, just beware there are some SERIOUS plot twists in this book and it will make you question everything you've already read and even things you haven't read yet!

Overall I ADORED this book and it was just as good as Throne of Glass so of course I gave it...

5/5 stars

That's all for this review! I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you again soon!

Happy Reading!
