Review: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Title: Ugly Love
Author: Colleen Hoover
Publishers: Atria
Page Count: 337

Goodreads Synopsis:

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I have loved every single book by Colleen Hoover that I have read and this was no exception. Once again Colleen Hoover has not failed to make me cry and write an amazing, emotional and heartbreaking story that I couldn't put down.

First of all I want to say that the synopsis does not do the book justice in my opinion. The book is so much more deep and psychological than you would think and I loved how the characters expressed themselves.

I really liked Tate and Miles. I thought Tate was a very realistic character and even though I think she made some wrong choices I think the choices she made were still realistic for someone her age. On the other hand I didn't think Miles was too realistic but I didn't care because I LOVED MILES. He was the perfect love interest for this book! He was perfect for the synopsis but I also liked seeing the softer side of him from his perspective and later in the book.

I very much enjoyed the dual perspective that we had going on in this book because for once I thought it actually benefited. By this I mean that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if it was just Miles' perspective on what was happening at the time because you can usually just tell what they're thinking but because it was his past story it was so so SO much more interesting because we knew it was leading up to something big that would just finish off the story and make it a Colleen Hoover book.

Speaking of Miles' story, I LOVED IT! I knew that it was leading up to something and I had so many theories like 'was so and so going to die?' and what not but it was not what I expected and that and the aftermath of what happened was so interesting and heartbreaking.

The plot of the story in Tate's part may have seemed predictable but because we have Miles' story too I was never bored and that was also because the chemistry between all of the characters. I loved all the relationships the characters had like the one Tate had with her Brother or Miles and Rachel.

The ending of the book was one of the best endings I've ever read because everything was resolved in a believable and good way and the epilogue WAS THE CUTEST THING I'VE EVER READ OMG.

So obviously I loved this book so I gave it...

5/5 Stars

That's all for this review! I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you again soon!
Happy Reading!

  2. Colleen Hoover always has these massive twists that give you so many feels! I mean, seriously, how does she always do that! And I totally agree, Miles' backstory was much more compelling, including the heartbreak...

  3. Wonderful review. I love Colleen's books, I've never been disappointed by any of them. I loved this, but agree that Miles didn't feel realistic. But I still enjoyed the book regardless of that. I can't wait for her next book!!!
