To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

I received an ARC copy of the Red Queen, all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed Red Queen. It was a good story and plot but it didn't amaze me. The story itself is okay but the plot I think is very good. The plot is compelling and intriguing and that's what drew me into the book in the first place.

The first 20% of the book was fast paced and I really enjoyed this 20% but after that it got a little bit slower and I found it hard to get through some of the parts of this book.

I am just going to say that this book is simply my opinion and I can see many people loving this book but I was not too sold on the romance. It was interesting to read about but they were just not the greatest couple...

As for the main character, I did like her but sometimes I found her a bit too unrealistic and as for the other characters I didn't really relate to any of them and I couldn't tell how they were feeling most of the time.

Overall I enjoyed most of this book but some of it bored me but I think that's just my personal preference.

I hope you enjoyed this review and I'll see you guys soon!

Happy Reading!

  1. I've been iffy about this one it seems like a hit or miss, and I don't usually do well with slow paced books - even if the beginning is not slow. And maybe the characters needed a bit more development - it might have helped with the romance, too. Great review, Lily!

  2. This is a book I have been really looking forward to reading but mostly I have been seeing simply "okay" reviews for it. I like the idea of a fast beginning but it is a shame it seems to drag in a few places. The plot does sound great, but I am a character driven reader so I don't know if I will like this one or not :/

    1. I have also seen many 'Okay' reviews but I think it's mainly because it's just not for some people so you should try it because you may love it! Plus it's worth a try just for the cover!
