7 Things That REALLY Annoy Book Lovers

Reading is generally a peaceful and enjoyable thing for book lovers but that can all go downhill when certain things occur. So naturally I have created a list of them!

Cliff Hangers

This one can be a blessing or a curse. If you have the next book in the series then great! But if you don't and you don't have access to the book then ALL HELL SHOULD BE RELEASED ONTO SAID AUTHOR. We just want to know if our favourite characters are okay or that our villain is dead that's all!!

Cover Changes

When you're a book fanatic you want to not only enjoy your books but also enjoy looking at them and it is hard to look at a series of books when the covers do not match. Maybe they've changed for the better but at the same time it would probably be uglier to have one mismatched book than ugly covers all round. Because I couldn't help myself I have some book cover changes that just killed me...

Pushed Back Release Dates

Waiting for a book to be released can be extremely painful but it gets even worse when that release date gets pushed back to a completely different date. If you're like me then you would remember the struggles of waiting for The Retribution of Mara Dyer which at one point seemed like it would never be published.

Hating a book you were excited for

If a book is hyped up so much it can be exciting to start reading it because you may be thinking 'Oh my god this is the best book ever and I'm about to read it!' but when your expectations are MURDERED it can be unpleasant. You invested time in a book so that you enjoy it and you expected to enjoy is because of how much hype there was but it turns out not to be great. This is not the fault of the author or anyone really because peoples views are all different but it can still be annoying.

Evil People (And not the fictional kind)

By this I mean those evil people who always ask those evil questions...

'What are you reading?'
'Why do you like reading?'
'I hate that book'
'*SPOILERS*'

The main character of a book ending up with the wrong girl/boy

Love triangles aside, when there is one it is usually easy to fall for the destined girl/boy but sometimes the character that the main character ends up with and it just isn't right but it is annoying especially since we spend so much time shipping their rightful...person?

Damaging books

This is like inflicting pain on a book lover. Whether the book lover does it or someone else does it is practically an unspeakable sin. Damaging books is all to do with how we like to present them and when we damage them they lose a certain amount of excitement

That's all for today's post! I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you again soon!

Happy Reading!

  1. Haha this is SUCH a great post!! Gosh, cover changes are really annoying. Especially for people like me who like their books to be in a particular way. Same goes with pushed back dates, although as a writer I do understand that one more.

  2. I just love this post, you listed things really right on the spot! I hate cliffhangers and I just hate when main character is ending up with the wrong person but THE worst for me is not matching books in the series! Makes me want to murder somebody!

  3. Oh no, I just can't stand it when someone gives me a direct spoiler! I am the master at avoiding spoilers, so if I went into all the effort to avoid coming across it, don't tell me! Oh, and I hate lending out a book and getting it back damaged >> Not good.

    1. My friends are awful at giving me spoilers so sometimes I have no choice but to hear them! I have only ever lent out one book and NEVER AGAIN!
