This book really caught me from it's synopsis so when I saw it I had to get my hands on it. This book was a real ride and although I had my issues with it I was enthralled throughout it.

In this book the plot is really well done and so it the writing. That was probably the thing I liked the most about this book. Marieke really captured how teenagers would react to the situation all of the characters in this book were in. I felt that the characters actions were believable and realistic which made me as a reader put myself easily into their shoes which made this book even more frightening. As for the shooter in this book, it was really interesting to watch how the point of views added up and gave us an interesting back story to how and why the shooter was doing what he was doing.

This book was full of suspense and the author really deliberately missed out information and made it sure that at points the reader didn't know what was going on so that she could gradually reveal to us what was going on and what had been happening to lead up to this event. This was so fun to piece together the story and try and figure out what the connection was between the shooter and the four perspectives we get.

I thought this book was very well thought out as these event all took place in 54 minutes and I it made it even more intense and the chapters all had a different time on them showing how far along it was which was super cool because I was just waiting for something to happen due to the time.

Despite me saying that I found the characters really believable and realistic, I didn't have a connection to any of the characters really which was unfortunate because it didn't mean that I was particularly concerned for them, I was more concerned in general and I think this was because they were sometimes a little dramatic for my liking and although their reactions to the situation were believable, I think sometimes their thoughts were not.

Overall I did have one issue with this book that I couldn't ignore but I still liked and enjoyed it so I gave it...

4/6 Stars

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed this one! I've had my eye on it for a lonnnnng time, so I'm super interested to see how it goes. I follow the author on Twitter, and she seems like a really wonderful person with the way she handles diversity and serious issues and I think that could translate into some of her writing a lot. Great review :)
