Hello everybody! So today instead of doing T5W I am doing a Waiting on Wednesday because this weeks T5W Is recommend books for Halloween and funny thing is...I have never read a scary book (Does the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer count for that?) So instead I am going to show you which book I am looking forward to! That book is...
Hey everyone! So for this weeks Tag Tuesday I am going to be doing the Chocolate Book Tag because this tag basically has my two favourite things in it so let's get started!
Dark Chocolate: A book that covers a dark topic.
Every Ugly Word by Aimee L Salter. This book is about bullying and has some magical realism. The bullying is really extreme in this book and it also has some really interesting bits where you get to hear her therapists views on what he thinks is happening and I just really enjoyed this book but it was definitely centred around a dark topic.
Hey everyone! So it feels like forever since I've done a blogger to blogger so this week to make up for it, I am going to share a website that lets you (wait for it) READ BOOKS FOR FREE THAT WERE RECENTLY PUBLISHED (AND YES IT'S LEGAL)
So before I get started, I just wanted to tell those who do not know that blogger to blogger is something I do every so often just sharing websites or things that I have found that are to do with book blogging or just books in general that I think help!
So Pulseit.com is an amazing website. You can read free books on your computer or just excerpts but point is it's amazing.
Hey guys, today I am going to do this weeks T5W which this week is my top 5 titles! So let's get started!
5. Divergent
I like the title divergent because it is so so so relevant to the books and I like the fact that all the other titles rhyme and have similar spellings and I just think it's really well thought out!
Hello everyone! So for this weeks Tag Tuesday, I am going to do the Book Blogger Test which is kind of a tag but it does have questions so I am saying that it is one! So lets go!
1.What are your top three book pet hates?
When people dog ear books, like no what are you doing, you paid money for a book so WHY ARE YOU RUINING IT! You don't even have to use a bookmark, you could use some scrap paper instead!
10 words. 'I released a breath I didn't realise I was holding'
Really ugly covers or when people change covers like half way through the series and you either have to deal with it or you have to re purchase all of the new covers.
Hello everyone! So for this weeks Tag Tuesday I am going to do the Bookish Would you Rather Tag! This tag has ten would you rather style questions so here goes!
1. Read only trilogies of stand alones?
Trilogies
This one is tough because I love both! I like how you get the whole story in one book with stand alones and that you don't have to wait for the next book but if I'm really loving a book I would rather it be a trilogy rather than a stand alone because sometimes stand alones can feel rushed and you after want more so I am going to have to say trilogies!
Hello everyone! So it's that time of week again where I tell you the books/book swag I got this week! I got loads of Swag this week but only two books so here goes!
So on Saturday night I went to the Maze Runner fan party at Waterstones to celebrate the movie release so we were all given a goody bag and usually they give you a book or two in the bag but this time there wasn't one but we got tonnes more swag!
So here is a picture of all the swag. This is a picture from my Bookstagram (@chapterspageswords) that I took of all my swag. There where a few excerpts from We Were Liars and Half Bad but sadly I have read both of those so I don't really want these. There were five or six bookmarks, a couple of badges, a few book related postcards and a flyer for The Bane Chronicles. There was also a fangirl little notebook which in the middle had some reading group questions. Also there were two black wrist bands, one had #blackice on it which is obviously from Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick and there was also one that had a skull on it and the letters SP from Skulldugery Pleasant which I have not read and I do not see myself reading any time soon. Also in the bag there was a We Were Liars posters and also a Half Bad poster. The We Were Liars poster had a quote from the book on it and the Half bad one just had the over on it.
It was actually reversible because it was black on one
side and white on the other.
Hello guys! So today is again the day that I tell you my Book Boyfriend from this week! It was really hard not to pick Daemon Black because I am still reading the LUX series and it's because I'm not reading the books back to back so I'm reading others between so I have refrained myself this week but my book boyfriend this week is...
Hey everyone so for this weeks T5W I have to pick my top 5 female characters! So here goes!
5. Cath from Fangirl.
Cath is so sweet and her character is so loveable in this book and the romance she makes is so cute and I just love her personality and the fact that she is geeky and nervous.
Hey everyone so for this weeks tag tuesday I decided to do the Seven Deadly Sins Book Tag! This book tag has a question for each seven of the deadly sins so here goes!
GREED- What is your most expensive book and what is your least expensive book?
This is going to sound lame but my most expensive book is my Homework Encyclopedia because this thing is huge and my least expensive book is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness because I got this for 99p from a charity shop.
WRATH- What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
John Green because I have only read two of his books but I am weary of reading more because I loved The Fault in Our Stars but I really did not like Looking for Alaska so I really don't know if I like his writing or not but I do like his youtube.
GLUTTONY- What book have you deliciously devoured over and over with no shame.
The Look by Sophia Bennet. I have read this book many many times because I really like it but the condition that my copy is in it horrible because I've read it so many times but I don't care when people comment on it because I really do love this book.
SLOTH- What book have you neglected reading because of Laziness.
That book is It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. This book daunts me because I've had it for so long and still haven't picked it up to read and I'm worried that I've gone off the book. And even though this sounds terrible, the small font kind of scares me so that's another reason for me not to read it!
PRIDE- What book do you talk about in order to sound like a very intellectual reader.
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I read this ages ago and I hated it but I still talk about it because the fact that it is written by Charles Dickens makes it seem even more intellectual so why not!
LUST- What attributes do you find most attractive in male or female characters.
If you take Daemon Black - Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout- (In the later books obviously because in the first book he is stupid) and mix him with Étienne St Clair - Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Then that is perfection.
ENVY- What books would you most like to receive as gifts?
The new Percy Jackson cover boxset thingy that came out recently because those are beautiful!
So thats all for my tag this week! I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you again next week!
Hey everyone! So it's that time again when I show you all the book that I got this week! So let's go!
So early this week I got accepted for an ARC of BloodWars by Brenda Pandos.
I was accepted to get this book for review from Netgalley so I'm really excited for this book.
Next on Saturday I got two physical books and those two were:
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. In preparation for this movie, I bought Gone Girl so I can read it before I can see the film and I bought Beautiful Disaster for 59p at the works because it was super cheap and I've heard many people say that this is their favourite new adult book so I got it!
So those were all the books that I got this week! I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you again next week!
Hello everyone! So it's time again for me to tell you my cover crush for this week and this time it's going to be...
The Young Elites by Marie Lu!
I really like this cover and the colours. The font looks really nice and I like how simple it is yet it has that ornate sword making the T which I really like as well.
So that was my cover crush for this week! I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you next time!
Title: Every Ugly Word (Previously published as Breakable)
Author: Aimee L Salter
Publishers: Alloy Entertainment
Page count: 254
Goodreads Synopsis: (even though I think it's better to go in blind)
When seventeen-year-old Ashley Watson walks through the halls of her high school bullies taunt and shove her. She can’t go a day without fighting with her mother. And no matter how hard she tries, she can’t make her best friend, Matt, fall in love with her. But Ashley also has something no one else does: a literal glimpse into the future. When Ashley looks into the mirror, she can see her twenty-three-year-old self.
Her older self has been through it all already—she endured the bullying, survived the heartbreak, and heard every ugly word her classmates threw at her. But her older self is also keeping a dark secret: Something terrible is about to happen to Ashley. Something that will change her life forever. Something even her older self is powerless to stop
This book was amazing and it really captures the essence and how it feels to be bullied. What set this aside from other novels about bullying is that the author makes how the victim is doing one sided about her story and how she eventually accepts the bullying and welcomes it, sometimes even tries to.
This book was amazing and I really enjoyed it. The writing was amazing and it was interesting to read about something I personally have never experienced but know happens everyday. I really recommend this book to anyone with bullying experience of not.
I received this book for review from Netgalley.
Warning this review is FULL of spoilers.
So the books starts and we don't really know what's going on we just know that something is wrong with this girl and that as 'Incident' happens somewhere along in the book. Then all this stuff goes down about her not wanting to look in the mirror that doc puts in the room and when we find out its actually because she has her 'Other Self' in there I was really interested because I liked the element of magical realism in this book.
It then goes to when she's about to give Matt that letter and she's all thinking that he's going to ask her out but then he says about Karyn. Already this early into the book I was feeling for the main character because you could tell she was devastated not only because Matt didn't ask her out but because also he asked out her bully! Of all people!
The story progresses a bit and they get to prom and I could just tell that when the contents of her bag fell out and Finn 'helped' her get it all that he would get the letter and read it all so when it came to the point when she saw Kayrn and Finn kissing I knew that Finn would use the letter against her and I was so angry!
The bullying then came into view and you could really see how horrible they were to her and why they were horrible to her. At this point her 'boyfriend' Dex comes back and I knew something was up because he wouldn't be such a big part of the story if nothing happened with him because it was pretty obvious that Matt and Ashley were the ones the author intended everyone to want to be together.
So when they go to Finns house for that party I could see it coming and I wasn't surprised when he betrayed Ashley on Brookes wishes.
I liked how Ashley handled Matt after that happened by telling him no because of what he was about to do because he originally intended to do it with Kayrn but I think that was when you could start to see the relationship start to develop.
I enjoyed the art aspect of this book and I was really sad when Finn and Karyn destroyed her art piece because that was just cold and I was sick that people actually do that in real life.
Reading through the parts where her bullying got severe I found it hard to read not because I had experienced this or because I could relate to her position, it was just because I think anyone would find this hard to read because the authors writing make you feel connected to the main character and it's easy to feel their emotions through the book.
So we finally come to the part where the perspectives slightly change and Ashley with the doctor sacrifices herself for Younger Ashley and that was a really sad part of the book and it was then that I realised how attached I was to these characters.
Overall this book was amazing for me because it not only made me feel all the feels, it also taught me some lessons and made me realise things that not a lot of YA book have recently so this book was amazing to read. 5/5 stars for sure.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in my next review!
Hey everyone so it's time for this week book boyfriend! So this week it is...
Matt from Every Ugly Word.
I know that during this book Matt doesn't really see what Ashley is going through but he tries hard to help her and I admire him for that even though some of the times but I still like Matt's character.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks book boyfriend and I'll see you next week!
Hey everyone so for this weeks T5W I am going to show you the top five most terrible covers! So let's gooooo!
5. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout.
These original covers are really ugly. There I said it. The whole face on cover thing is really not good but this is only number 5 because it is really relevant to the story. The guy looks like Daemon (the
girl whose meant to be Katy...not so much in my opinion) but it is still not a good looking book if you ask me...
4. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.
Okay so you all know how much I ADORE this book but the covers are hideous! I love the new covers but with these ones...ITS THE FACES AGAIN! Again it is relevant to the story but whilst
reading the book I had no idea how to picture Étienne because they cut his face off but they didn't cut Anna's off which I thought was really weird for some reason...yeah. And can we just talk about the font choice? It's horrible.
3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
I am sorry but...these covers...No. Again, relevant. But I hate the covers and the colour of this one is
this ugly yellow cover and I just don't like the font and I don't think it all goes together very well at all.
2. Ashes by Ilsa J Bick.
This is again another 'face of girl' cover but this one has nothing to do with the story and the colours
are nasty. The only good thing about this cover is the fact that it is shiny.
1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver.
This cover is the original cover of the UK edition and as you can see, this cover is fugly. For many, MANY reasons. The girl on the cover who I assume is Lena, looks nothing like her! If you've read the book you will know that this girl looks nothing like her and also too young to be her in my
opinion. The background colour just makes no sense and the font and colour choices are HORRIBLE!
So that was my top five Wednesday for this week! I hope you enjoyed this post and I'll see you next week!
